Champagne first, sharp, bright, gone in a blink, before red currant and a warm gold trace of davana pull the top open wider than expected. That's the opening gambit of Checkmate, our interpretation of Mind Games, and it plays for keeps.

The fizz settles into a heart built almost entirely of rose: may rose and Bulgarian rose layered against a plainer rose, three shades of the same flower until it reads less like a single note than an argument being won. Magnolia softens the debate, pale and warm, before the base turns serious, patchouli and tobacco settle in with a hush of moss, dry and grounded, the last move that decides everything.

Wear it for the long dinner that turns into something else, the negotiation you've already won, the date where you want florals with actual nerve. Day or night, spring through fall, it moves as easily across a conference table as it does across a candlelit one.
